Most cluster faults look dramatic but come down to a handful of repeatable failures. Here's what we see daily, and what we fix.
Black lines, fading numbers, half-blank screens. Common on Mercedes W203/W209, BMW E60/E90, Audi/VW MFD displays. Usually a tired LCD panel or solder joint — both repairable without replacing the whole cluster.
Fixed on the drivewaySpeedo, rev counter, or fuel gauge stuck at zero, swinging wildly, or stuck high. Often a stepper motor or driver IC fault — straightforward replacement once we've isolated which one.
Same-visit repairCluster goes dim at night, lights flickering, dashboard intermittently going dark. Backlight LEDs and capacitors degrade with age — replaced as a matched set so the colour temperature stays consistent.
Same-visit repairNo lights, no power, nothing on key-on. Could be the cluster itself, the gateway module, fuses, or wiring. We diagnose first, then repair or recommend a replacement cluster — coded and synced so the car accepts it.
